A graduate of Castleton State College, Karen has been on the Hardwick Dental team for almost 2 decades! When you come to our office, Karen is happy to help you understand your treatment plan and financial options. Previously, she worked for the Vermont Judiciary, then a private law firm before breaking into dentistry. Taking care of patients is inherent in her nature, as she always wanted a job that kept her in contact with people and allowed her to assist them. She loves that our staff strives to break down the barriers of the unknown – striving for the comfort of all patients young and old. Karen is very busy outside of the office – she assists with working on an organic dairy farm, is a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and spent time coaching both dance and Special Olympics basketball. She also spent ten years on the board of the Hardwick Area Community Coalition. She loves watching and photographing sports with her husband Michael, raising chickens, gardening, and spending time with their daughter, Taylor.
Registered Dental Hygienist
After receiving an associate’s degree, Katy’s worked full-time as a registered dental hygienist and continued to pursue her Bachelor’s of Science at the University of New England. She joined the team at Hardwick Dental Group in 2012, and has always felt the dentist’s office should be a place of positivity and smiles. She’s proud to confess she’s never had a cavity herself, and she loves the feeling of accomplishment she gets when she transforms a patient’s oral health. She enjoys working with the team because of the unique relationships built with each patient. She also loves that the doctors keep up to date with the latest in dentistry and invest in great new technology. She considers herself organized and meticulous, which is great when it comes to keeping your mouth sparkling and healthy. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their two young boys, and you can find her volunteering at NCAL or coaching t-ball. She’s also a board member for the Morrisville Baseball Softball Association, and still finds time to ski and read.

Sarah is committed to learning about every patient and helping to improve their oral health. She’s been a member of the Hardwick Dental team for over 2 decades, providing excellent hygiene and teaching patients about healthy habits they can use to maintain beautiful smiles at home. In addition to her training at the University of Vermont, Sarah completed a course in local anesthetics in 2014. She loves the way Hardwick Dental cares about every patient, and is proud to support their dedication to great smiles. Sarah and her husband, Jonathan, along with their teenage son Jacob and yellow Labrador Lizzy, can be found in the great outdoors of Vermont, camping, fishing, hunting and gardening. She also teaches Sunday School and volunteers with a number of church committees.
Michael is a proud graduate of Purdue University in Northern Indiana, and brings his experiences in office administration, finances, property management, and advertising to our practice. He loves working with all of the great staff at the office as well as being able to both live in the community and also be able to help his neighbors stay healthy. Michael and his wife, Dr. Katie Piet, recently purchased the practice and are helping to build on the relationships that the staff has with its patients. He says that he’s a lucky man to be married to such an amazing woman. Michael loves living in Vermont with Katie, their daughters, and their dog Rey. He coaches youth girls basketball, loves to hike, mountain bike, and ski. He’s also a great cook.
Marriah is a graduate of the Center for Technology in Essex and has been working in dentistry since 2019. She ended up working in the field due to a recommendation from an ex-manager who saw something special in her and urged her to pursue her current career. Marriah says she couldn’t be happier about taking the advice. She says working as part of the team at Hardwick Dental Group is rewarding, especially when she’s able to see the happiness on patient’s faces when they see their new smile. When you work with Marriah, you’ll find that she’s quiet, kind, helpful, and adventurous. In her spare time, Marriah enjoys horseback riding, fishing, hiking, and anything outdoors.
